General comments
Bij verdenking op een osteomyelitis/artritis/prothese infectie dient altijd eerst materiaal te worden afgenomen (incl. bloedkweken) vóór het starten van antibiotica.
Indien chirurgisch ingrijpen geïndiceerd is dan dient overleg plaats te vinden met de arts-microbioloog en/of internist-infectioloog over de te starten empirische therapie (o.a. over tijdstip van starten, dosering en soort antibioticum).
Therapie in beginsel intraveneus en gedurende zes weken. Eventueel na 1-2 weken in overleg met arts-microbioloog en/of internist-infectioloog over op oraal indien er een middel beschikbaar is met voldoende weefsel penetratie.
